Wash & Care
PLEASE WASH YOUR ITEMS WHEN THEY REACH YOUR HOUSE. I HAVE SEVERAL ANIMALS THAT LIKE TO LOUNGE IN MY FABRICS AND CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT YOU WON’T FIND STRAY HAIRS. THS IS ONE OF MY FUR BABIES!!
Ring Slings—–Wash in COLD water and Hang Dry. The paint on the rings may chip off in your dryer—-or worse yet dent your dryer! The material on Slings is not preshrunk so expect some shrinking and possibly some dye transfer in the first wash. PLEASE WASH ALONE the first time!
Nursing Pads—–Can be washed in the machine or by hand. Some people find it easier to put them in a small mesh bag or a lingerie bag so they don’t get lost up pant legs or inside of sweaters. They can be put in the dryer—I would recommend medium heat or you can lay them flat to dry. If you have problems with a thrush infection while nursing, you can treat your nursing pads with straight distilled vinegar. add 1/2 cup to the wash and use Hot Hot water. Do this for at least 2 weeks after your thrush infection has cleared up.
Mama Cloth—-Some people soak their pads in a water pail. This is optional and completely up to you and your personal preference. My personal routine is as follows. Place soiled pads in storage bag or diaper pail until wash day. Do a cold or warm soak for 30 mins with no detergent and then spin all dirty water out. Wash on hot and dry in dryer on medium heat. If you are concerned with staining you can make a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water and sray your soiled pads as you remove them. that way they are being stored with a “stain treater” until wash day. Be advised DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE HAND DYED VELOURS —- IT WILL BLEACH THEM. Regular dyed fabrics and velours will be fine, but hand dyed/tyedyed items will not be okay with this stain treater
Diapers—-All materials used in diaper making have been prewashed/shrunk. You may still notice a small amount of shrinkage in the first wash but not enough to affect the sizing. Absorbancy will increase in the first 2-3 washes, but it is not necessary to “prep” my diapers by prewashing. I recommend a warm or cold soak for 30 mins –drain all dirty water. Then wash on hot with the regular amount of detergent and follow with an extra rinse to be sure to remove all extra soap. If you have “stinkies” or are dealing with diaper rash or yeast rash (thrush), add 1/2 cup of regular distilled vinegar to your wash with your detergent and do an extra hot wash. Dry on Medium heat to avoid fading the prints or causing excess shrinkage.
Trainers—- Can be washed with regular clothes as normal . If heavily soiled wash with diapers or do a presoak to remove “extras”!! Dry on Medium heat to avoid fading the prints or causing excess shrinkage.
If you decide to line dry your items you may notice they get stiff or “crunchy” this is because of the sun and the fact that natural materials dry out completely. You can give them a good shake or rumple off the line to soften them up a bit. Or, once you remove items from the line place them in the dryer with a wet handtowel or 2 washcloths for 10 minutes on medium heat. They will all come out soft and fluffy!
